About
Our Core
Our Vision is to create self-reliant, self-sufficient, and self-sustaining communities with a capacity to identify and lead their own development strategies.
And so we are on mission to break the cycle of generational poverty within the urban and rural poor by initiating and implementing participatory programs that give communities tools to Self-sustaining livelihoods.
Our History
- Beyond the Vision Initiative (BVI) began with a powerful vision held by our founder, Jackline Musyoka, to empower individuals to rise above poverty. Starting in Machakos, Kenya, BVI initially focused on rural women’s groups, providing business skills and access to credit through sustainable livelihoods programs. We also supported vulnerable children with scholarships, conducted HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns, and offered famine relief.
- By 2013, our work expanded to the Tassia slums of Nairobi, addressing challenges in education, hunger, and trauma. This led to the establishment of the Beyond the Vision Community School, a symbol of community-driven progress. Recognizing that education alone was insufficient, we broadened our approach to include nutritional support, mental wellness, and mentorship, creating a holistic model for growth.
- In 2024, we launched our ambitious initiative, The Happy Place, in Laikipia County. This proposed boarding school and development center will offer a nurturing environment for children from underserved communities, integrating academic excellence, life skills, mental wellness, and cultural identity.
- From our humble beginnings in rural Kenya to impacting thousands across the nation, BVI’s story is one of hope, resilience, and community-led transformation, guided by the belief in the power of dreams to change the world.
