Program

Overview

At Beyond the Vision Initiative (BVI), we believe education is the key to ending cycles of hardship that persist across generations. However, for many talented students in informal settlements, poverty limits their educational opportunities—especially at the secondary and tertiary levels.

Opening Doors to Higher Learning

The Scholarship Program bridges this gap by providing comprehensive financial support—covering tuition fees, learning materials, and related expenses—to academically capable students from low-income families. For many recipients, this scholarship marks the first time anyone in their family can attend secondary school, college, or university. By alleviating financial strain, we empower students to focus on their studies, achieve academic excellence, and ultimately uplift both themselves and their communities.

Activities & Implementation Approach

Financial Support & Guidance

Each scholarship covers tuition fees and essential learning materials. Where possible, recipients also receive mentorship to help them navigate academic and career choices—ensuring they stay motivated and see real-world paths for their ambitions.

Collaboration with Educational Institutions

We coordinate with secondary schools, colleges, and universities to track each scholar’s progress. Regular feedback loops help us tailor support if students face challenges—academic, personal, or financial.

Commitment to Accountability

Recipients undergo an application and selection process that includes academic records, references, and personal essays or interviews. Once awarded, they provide periodic updates on their performance, confirming that funds are effectively used.

Community Engagement

Beyond formal schooling, scholarship beneficiaries are encouraged to participate in BVI events, giving back through volunteer work, peer mentorship, or youth leadership activities in their communities.
